5 Tips For Christmas Photos With Kids

in fay family, Style on 04/11/19

Keep it fun and quick

If your’e talented enough to get it in 5 minutes, most likely you are going to be most successful. We have never shot anything with our kids that lasts over 20 minutes. Odds are, your kids are going to get more frustrated and their smiles are going to get a little whackier the longer you shoot so get their photos in first and you can always do yours and your husbands could shots or individual shots with each kid after. But do the group shots first!

Pick a place your kids are comfortable

Ours always seems to be at home, on the beach, or on 30a somewhere that we frequent. Being in a familiar place keeps the kids from getting distracted and wanting to explore and they are most comfortable there.

It doesn’t have to always look like Christmas

If you get an adorable family photo but your not dressed like Christmas – that’s okay! The card will make it look “Holiday-esque” enough! Some of our favorite Christmas cards, we were all dressed in neutral colors! Also, if you want to wear neutrals for family photos you can always bring a few Christmas decorations with you for that one Christmas Card photo.

Find places that they don’t even realize they are shooting

Tree farm family photos are usually the cutest (we don’t have tree farms in Florida, so I went with a tree hut?) haha But still so cute. You can ask a photographer, friends who also need photos or a family member to meet you there and snap a few photos of the family looking for trees. I love a good candid photo!

Prepare outfits in advance

Finding outfits day of can be quite a fiasco so I have them all laid out in each of our kids rooms prior too so it’s easier for them to get ready themselves, you know everything is going to go together and there is no stressing or fighting trying to find “that shirt.”

Whether you are going for naturals, blush’s or plaids – I picked out a few affordable options for the kiddos to wear this year all at an amazingly good price at Walmart. I love grabbing our kids clothes online at Walmart because of the huge range of options, the unbeatable prices and fast 2 day shipping!
