Lipstick Heels and a Baby

5 Spring Cleaning Hacks

in fay home on 14/03/18

Thank you Febreze ONE for sponsoring this post. All opinions are my own.

It is a known fact that you are more productive and happier when your surroundings are clean fresh and organized. Having all of these things bring you to a #ONEStateofMind, making you that much more productive and prepared. Twice a year I try to go through our entire house and clean like I have never cleaned before. This includes going through closets, drawers, etc. I found a few tips that help me accomplish this quickly and efficiently.

Start first thing in the morning.

If I start other projects before this one – I tend to keep pushing it off, then look at the clock and it’s lunch time, then carpool time, etc. Basically, I don’t even get started. I always like to start the moment the kids get to school, or if you work during the week. Start first thing on Saturday morning as soon as you make your coffee!

Tackle one room at a time

I start at one corner of the house and work my way through. If I do not do this, I get so distracted and it takes me twice as long. I typically start in my bathroom (under the cabinets are the worst) and work my way through the house.

As you leave each room – make sure it also smells fresh and clean.

Did you know, 95% of people agree that a clean smelling home is just as important as a clean looking home – and I agree. That same percentage of people would feel embarrassed if their home was described as ‘stinky’ or ‘stale.’ A Febreze survey also found that over 90% of people said that a fresh smelling environment can give them a positive state of mind or even improve mood or performance. The issue with this is – my mom is allergic to strong smells. To the point that if I have plug ins, strong candles or have just sprayed an aerosol her throat will literally start to swell and close up. So that isn’t an option for me – as she’s here multiple times a week to help me with the kids. Febreze ONE fabric and air mist is a solution that is safe for her but still gives me the satisfaction of a fresh smelling home. Before I started using Febreze ONE throughout my home I of course had to put it to the test. I used it for a few days myself to first of all, make sure it worked and effectively removed odors. It does! Secondly, the next time my mom came over I asked her if I could test it around her to see if it made her feel sick. She took one for the team and even stuck her head in the mist after I sprayed, and IT PASSED! So, of course – she proceeded to ask me if she could keep it! Ha!

Febreze ONE fabric and air mist is a first-of-its-kind product containing no aerosols, no dyes and no heavy perfumes. But, it has the same odor elimination power of other Febreze products with a unique two-in-one formula that makes it perfect for removing odors both in the air and on fabrics. Plus, it has refillable packaging. Bamboo is my favorite scent, but Mandarin and Orchid both also smell amazing.

Get rid of anything you or the family didn’t wear last season.

Spring has sprung, almost, and if you never found yourself reaching for that sundress last year. Or, your boys refused to wear that t-shirt you thought they would love when you bought it. It’s time to say goodbye. There is no reason to clutter up your closets and you can make room for new arrivals this spring! You can even spray the clothes with Febreze ONE before going into the donation pile.

Start at the top and work your way down.

This may be common sense to most, but maybe not. It isn’t for my husband anyways. lol! For example – in the kitchen – I start by wiping out the top cabinets first working my way down, then to the counter tops and then lower cabinets. Leaving anything that falls to fall below it – so it’s not a big deal and you will get it as you work your way down. This avoids you having to re clean things! It will save you more time than you think!
