Lipstick Heels and a Baby

Summer Tablescape with Mackenzie-Childs

in Style on 20/06/20

I absolutely love to entertain, and although our current home isn’t ideal for entertaining large groups, we love having friends and family over for brunch or dinner parties. I decided to order a few new things to add to our favorite dinnerware pieces we have had for years. I wanted to keep our mostly white theme with touches of blues and golds going so I added in some more timeless Mackenzie-Childs pieces.

I originally was introduced to Mackenzie-Childs by my grandmother many years ago. She had special glasses, a tea kettle and a few other pieces from MC that she would bring out only for special occasions and holidays. She would always talk about how special they were to her as they were passed down to her and told us to be extremely careful with them.

I have three favorite collections with Mackenzie-Childs, they are ALL beautiful – but I am always drawn to the Sweetbriar, Courtly Check (this is the collection we have on our front porch and for our holiday decor), and the Royal Check. The Sweetbriar and Royal Check are the two collections featured in this blog post, along with the gorgeous gold plated flatware which is a must-have in my opinion!

Depending on what meal we are eating would depend on how many layers of plates you need, but I love the elegant look of stacking multiple plates on one another and love the pop of color on the top. I stacked the Sweet Briar Charger with the large dinner plates and topped it off with the Royal Check salad/dessert plate. All of Mackenzie-Childs pieces are handmade, hand glazed and hand painted (if they are painted) in Aurora, NY! << This may be my favorite detail about all of their pieces.

Tip: For simple table decor in the summer, use clippings of plants out of your own yard. The greenery pictured above are clippings from our very own lemon tree in our backyard. I then just grabbed a few pieces of fruit out of our refrigerator that we always have on hand and used them to add some fun summer colors. Adding fruits and fresh plants bring in extra color to brighten and freshen up your decor! I love the yellows, oranges and greens with the white and blues.

The cake stand doubles as a place to set cheeses, desserts, and decor. I also use my large chargers as serving dishes sometimes.

I love these smaller Royal Check bowls to keep at the table for garnishes, dips, and sauces. They are the perfect size to hold multiples of anything without taking too much room.

Thank you Mackenzie-Childs for partnering with me on this post. All opinions are 100% my own.
