Lipstick Heels and a Baby

Master Makeover

in fay home, Style on 12/03/16

This post is sponsored by Ace Hardware.

Making time to update around the house is not always easy between juggling cooking, laundry, kids, and life in general. The only painting we had done inside of the house was paneling we installed, the fireplace brick, Walker’s nursery, and the boys’ bathroom. We hadn’t had a chance to get to our bedroom, bathroom, or even, still, the living room. The walls were/are still the typical builders beige, which is so extremely boring if you ask me.
Ace Hardware’s 31 Days of Color always gets me so excited and motivated to change something around the house every year. This year, we decided to go bold and really make a big change. I typically stick to lighter colors, but with our white trim, tray ceiling, and light headboard,  I thought it would be a great chance to try out Day 12’s color, Sooty Lashes. In some light it looks navy, and in others it looks like a dark charcoal gray. Regardless of which you see, I am so in love with it. It honestly looks even better than I thought it would, and I already knew it would be great! Plus, even Ryan loved it — he typically isn’t the biggest fan of change in our house. I never really used to notice our tray ceiling or any of the white details until now. It also really makes our artwork above our bed pop, and the color of the walls matches the darker specks in the painting perfectly!
Of course,  I am now looking for ways to switch up our furniture in there now because I feel like we need a lighter dresser and chest. I also plan on getting white curtains and adding crown molding around the lower ceiling edge and around the windows. I love that this has inspired me to start focusing on our house and getting a few things updated and changed before summer comes around!

I have to say I usually prefer more muted classic neutral colors that get noticed.

But this color in this bedroom, adds some punch and dimension to the room and also drama. The color in this bedroom is even warm and cozy and works fine.

I think in the right rooms, dark colors work fine. I also like this room because I also have a trey ceiling in the room and my dining room love them. Good job, this color adds drama to this room.

I think the color makes the room warmer. Perfect for a bedroom.
