Lipstick Heels and a Baby

DIY Growth Chart + Kid Friendly Nutrient Tip

in fay home, Style on 29/07/16

A big thank you to Go & Grow by Similac® for sponsoring this post. All opinions are my own.
We love Go & Grow by Similac® Mix-Ins™ for food. They are great for children over the age of 1. As a mama, I always fear that my little ones may not be getting their recommended daily nutrients. Each single-serving packet (8.7g) of Go & Grow by Similac® Mix-Ins™ has 3g of protein, 3g of fiber, and 13 essential vitamins and minerals, which gives me peace of mind.

Adding it to yogurt at breakfast and mac ‘n’ cheese at lunch is one of my easiest and quickest tips. For the yogurt, I mix in half a packet of Go & Grow by Similac® Mix-ins™ per 4oz yogurt container, trying to keep it at the top in case some of the yogurt is left over. For mac ‘n’ cheese, I mix in an entire packet to ½ cup of macaroni when I add in the cheese sauce, butter, and milk. Mixing it in is a breeze! That way, by lunch I don’t have to worry if they are getting nutrients like protein, fiber and vitamins and minerals.

Okay, now on to the DIY growth chart. When creating the boys a growth chart I was inspired by both Pottery Barn and Restoration Hardware and their growth charts that actually look like home decor. I wanted it to be a piece in their room that they could keep their entire childhood and that wouldn’t look dated as their room decor changed. That being said I did not want to spend a fortune on a piece of wood that I turned into a large ruler. I purchased a 6 ft smooth finished wood board from our local hardware store and measured out up to 6 feet. I also decided to keep in mind that I would not want to have to remove our baseboards so I subtracted the inches of that from the first foot I measured out on the board.

I used a pencil to mark all of the measurements and went back over it with a oversized black permanent marker. I also used number stencils to avoid making a mistake on the board when writing those as well.

As far as where to put the board, we have decided to hang it in the hallway in between both of the boys rooms. I currently have ordered dog tags for the boys stating their ages for example. Braydon 3 months, Braydon 9 months, Braydon 1 year, Braydon 2 years, etc. Also the same for Walker up until 10 years old. This way I can hang the tags at each spot on the growth chart depending on their height at that age.

Hope you guys love this idea! Let me know if you decide to make one yourself!
